Belt Splice Detector
Conveyor belts sometimes need to be joined using metal clips. In instances like this, the effect on a metal detector will be obvious as the detector will see the splice as unwanted metal and needlessly trip the belt.

In order to overcome this problem, the metal detector can be supplied with circuitry to inhibit the detector while the splice passes the detector.
A Pickup is fitted upstream of the detector coil and starts an adjustable timer, which is set just long enough to allow the splice to pass the detector coil.
This method has obvious disadvantages in that a portion of the belt goes un-searched, depending on how many splices are on the belt.
Saflec has addressed this issue in two ways, namely; once the splice is detected the logics within the detector expect to see one item of metal (the splice). If more than one item is detected during the splice time, the detector will trip. Obviously a piece of metal could be present directly on the splice. In this instance a level detector which has been set to allow the volume of metal represented by the splice through, will trip the unit if the metal signal is substantially larger than the splice.
This method, although not totally fool proof, gives some measure of protection.
Of course, the best method, if practically possible is to have the joints vulcanized.

Powder Marker
The Powder Marker was  designed to be used in conjunction with any Saflec industrial metal detector.
The Powder Marker is used, to identify the spot on the belt where metal has been detected. Not all metal is easily picked out when the belt stops, as in the case of high speed coal belts where metal can be buried in the coal and the only indication is that given by the powder.

Features: Stainless steel dispenser, supplied on a support arm for positioning over conveyor and can be used with colour plastic granules or river sand as marking medium.

Applications: For marking the position of tramp metal on the belt for either:     Removal at later stage or easier identification of tramp metal in fast moving belts

Disc Dropper
The Disc Dropper was  designed to be used in conjunction with any Saflec industrial metal detector.
The Disc Dropper is used to identify the location on the belts where metal has been detected. Not all metal is easily identified when the belt stops, as in the case of high speed coal belts where metal can be buried in the coal and the only indication is that given by the steel disc.  Another feature is that the belt cannot be restarted until the disc is reinserted into the Disc Dropper
